Flannel Board Friday: Baa Baa Black Sheep

Hey look! It's my first Flannel Board Friday Post! YAY!

Baa Baa Black Sheep, have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full.
One for the master, one for the dame,
One for the little boy who lives down the lane
Baa Baa Black Sheep, have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full.

Baa Baa White Sheep, have you any wool?

Baa baa orange sheep, have you any wool?

Baa Baa DISCO sheep, have you any wool?

To make the flannel board, I used a coloring sheet of a sheep as a template and cut out a black sheep. I then cut out only the fleece bits on the coloring sheet and used that as a template on other colors of felt to place on top of the black sheep (so we always see the black sheep's legs and face!)

Disco sheep is a separate fleece piece, cut from black felt, and decorated with glitter puff pant.

When doing it in storytime, the kids will usually only handle about 2-3 colors at a time. When I do it in storytime, I often do it a few times throughout the program, using different colors each time.

Roundup is over at Rain Makes Applesauce!

  1. Awesome! I have a set of clipart sheep in different colors, but I don't have a disco sheep. What a great addition!

  6. I just spit water all over my desk at "DISCO SHEEP." That is a future picture book in the making, if I've ever seen a picture book.

  7. Very cool disco sheep! I have done the rhyme as a folder story, but haven't ever ventured out to my own colors. I see a "glitter" sheep in my future!
